Canceled - Young Dancers at the Cummer

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday August 16

11:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

This class is for students who love dance, music, and art! Choreographer Dana Brett will focus on modern and creative movement styles while dancing and exploring in The Cummer Galleries and Gardens. This class is inspired by Isadora Duncan, who choreographed dancers in gardens in the early 1900s, and the artwork ofIcons of Style: Makers, Models and Image. The students will learn a site-specific dance based on the beauty of this unusual dance space and will have a final performance for friends and family on November 22 at the Museum.

Ms. Brett has started dance programs and has choreographed concerts for children at schools, festivals, and dance studios for many years. She has taught at both the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and the Fordham High School of the Arts in New York City, and holds a M.Ed. in Elementary Education, a B.A. in Dance and a B.A. in English Literature. Ms. Brett is inspired by the merging of art and nature and looks forward to exploring and creating with students here at The Cummer. Supply list/dress code available.
