In 1888, Vincent van Gogh moved to a small rural southern French town of Arles. The town and its people drove his creativity forward while his mental state was crumbling. Van Gogh arrived in Arles with such hope and optimism, so what led him to such despair in the end? 

Living in Provence, France, author Bernadette Murphy had long wondered what had happened to Van Gogh in 1888. The inconsistencies and confusion in the historical accounts led Murphy to look at the painter's time in Arles anew. Spending seven years on her investigation, Murphy made an important discovery about the artist which was reported all over the world. Her research shows how even today, more than 130 years later, it is possible to rewrite history. Murphy's book, Van Gogh's Ear, has been translated into more than ten languages and made into a BBC PBS Arte co-production, The Mystery of Van Gogh's Ear.

The evening will begin with wine, beer, and small bites, followed by Ms. Murphy's talk and question and answer session. The event will end with a book signing of Van Gogh's Ear.
