Queer: From Ancient to Contemporary

Queerness has existed in art for centuries. While we may not be able to wedge people from past cultures into our current understanding of gender and sexuality, there have been individuals who were gender non-conforming throughout history and there are numerous examples of queer art and artists in the Cummer Museum collection.  Explore these pieces, along with themes of academic erasure and combatting anti-LGBT+ initiatives, with Visitor Experience Associate Amber Angeloni (she/her).
